Jim and I had planned on going to Greenville, SC this past weekend for my sister's graduation. I was so excited to see friends and family that I hadn't seen in a long time! It was going to be a nice, fun, relaxing get away! That was the plan....
Our flight took off Friday afternoon, we arrived at the airport 6 minutes past the checking in time! Those six minutes would haunt us for the rest of the weekend. We decided to try the next flight flying standby, but we didn't get on. I was so upset! Like not just sad, but crying that I had missed this and that I wouldn't get to see everybody!! Jim was very sweet and quickly trying to figure out what to do=) We called my parents and told them we weren't coming, which I was crying the whole time while trying to tell them. After that, we decided to check if there were any other flights. A very nice lady at the counter got us on a flight to Dallas, where we would spend the night and fly out at 6 the next morning to get to Greenville around 9:30. We would miss the graduation, but at least we would be there when everyone got out for the fun part! So, we got to a hotel in Dallas around 10, ate something and tried to sleep for 4 hours. Oh, and we didn't have any luggage or toiletries, so we were at the hotel's mercy. So, let's just say we didn't look so good the next day=) We were excited to finally get on the plane on our way to SC. 30 minutes into our flight the captain comes on and says, " Due to some problems with the pressure, we will have to turn around and go back to Dallas!" Enter laughter, frustration, shock, etc! I couldn't believe this was happening!! Maybe we weren't supposed to go to Greenville! So, we landed, found out we couldn't get on the next flight, even though half our plane did, and therefore would have to fly to Charlotte and from there to Greenville, putting us in at 1:30 pm. So, we would end up being in the airplane and airports more than with my family=) Oh and to make the situation even funnier, one reason we were late in the first place, besides just our bad planning, was that we had stopped at Starbucks to get Can's fiancee Mike some gifts. So, the whole trip I had carried in a bag this very cool mug for him. Early Saturday morning, while checking out of the hotel, I placed the bag on the counter, turned my back and then heard a huge crash! The bag had fallen and the mug was in pieces! Jim yelled, the lady behind the counter screamed, and I just started laughing at yet another thing! So, Mike ended up getting a $5 gift card to Starbucks, he must have thought we were so cheap=)
So, there is our exciting weekend=) We did have a good time seeing everyone and for some odd reason it felt like we had been away for a week instead of 2 days! But, we are back home safely now. We took some nyquil last night, went to bed around 9:30 and woke up this morning ready to start a new week, just like we had had an ordinary weekend! Hope everyone had a great weekend too!
